An early look at a new mode!
The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, and what better way to get into the holiday spirit than putting out a brand new post on the Dotekicept blog? I know it’s been a while, and it’s honestly because there hasn’t really been much to share. …until now that is!
Over the past few months, I’ve been conceptualizing a brand new Pongspin game mode, and I’ve just recently began laying the proper groundwork for it in the game.
This new mode is currently titled Labyrinth, and while I’m not going to go into too much detail in regards to gameplay, I will say that it’s going to be substantially different than the standard Pongspin formula. Think of it as a chill adventure mode of sorts. Here, take a look!
This is a test for the camera and paddle functionality, so there’s still much to be done. I think it should also be noted that it’s likely that you won’t be able to control the ball in this way in the final version. Again, this is all just testing.
Another thing that makes this mode stand out is the amazing new music composed by the very talented KiwiBurd (who also made the music in the Lockball release trailer). With this being a very different kind of game mode, a different sound is a nice change of pace!
I’m aiming for a Spring 2024 release for this update, and I’ll post development updates here periodically.
But I’d be lying if I said that this is the only thing that I’m working on. Alongside Labyrinth, I’ve also been laying the groundwork for the next Dotekicept game. Now, it’s still very early in development, we only have a basic prototype at the moment, but it is progressing. I’ll make a proper announcement when the time is right, and I’m honestly super excited for it. Stay tuned, and happy holidays!
